I’m excited to share that the second season of It’s Good to Be Smart! is out now! That’s right, more science goodness coming your way through your earholes.
This season is all about answering the question, “What is Life?” (As in, an introduction to biology, not trying to solve your existential crises.) :-) This was one of my favorite topics to teach as a science teacher, and I hope you’ll find the episodes intriguing and educational.
The episodes in this season get at foundational questions in biology, such as:
What’s the difference between “living,” “non-living,” and “dead?”
What characteristics all living things share?
Where does life come from?
How do we classify living things?
Are viruses alive?
There are teaching resources if you want to use these episodes with your students, and scripts for every episode available. You can find them, along with all the episodes at goodtobesmart.com.
And you can subscribe the show in your favorite podcast app so you’ll automatically get new episodes anytime they are released. It’s Good to Be Smart! is on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube, and more--just search for "It's Good to Be Smart" and you'll find it. You can listen in on the web as well, if you prefer that.
Thanks to so many of you for your encouragement, and for taking the time to reach out and say you’ve listened. The episodes from season 1 has already had almost 800 downloads, which exceeded my expectations! I’m hoping to keep adding new seasons throughout the summer, and for the foreseeable future. I’m already working on season 3—hopefully dropping in May.
If you do give the show a listen, would you do me a favor? Could you please rate it or even leave a review in your podcast app? That actually helps podcasters out SO much, and I would be incredibly grateful. And the very best way you can help is to share it with other folks who you think would enjoy it too—the show is targeted for kids ages 10-15, and for their parents and teachers too, so if you’re willing to pass it along, I would really appreciate that as well.
I hope you'll listen in, and enjoy it, but more than that, I hope you’ll find yourself encouraged, inspired, and learning something new, because, well…it’s good to be smart!
